Everyone recognizes Mosow’s unique, candy-looking St. Basil’s Cathedral. Inside is even more stunning, so I’m taking you inside Moscow’s iconic St. Basil’s Cathedral for this week’s Photo Friday.

I love how it looks after a shower against the remaining clouds.
There are hardly any bits of walls or ceilings that are uncovered. It dates back to 1561, and a great deal of it is original. It’s no surprise that it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Of course, you can’t use the flash; taking good pictures is hard because of the lack of space. I hope you like the ones that turned out best and photo-bomber free!

All the intricate details blow my mind.
![Sadly, it was impossible to get the entire thing in one shot; this was the best I could do.](http://i2.wp.com/www.trekkingwithbecky.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/IMG_1062-001.jpg?resize=700%2C1037)
Sadly, it was impossible to get the entire thing in one shot; this was the best I could do.
There are murals everywhere. Come to think of it, the details in the previous shots as well as the murals remind me of some of Moscow’s subway stations, which are out of this world; I’ve never seen metro stations even remotely like them and don’t worry, I’ll be featuring them for future Photo Fridays. For now, continue admiring St. Basil’s art. ↓
![I don't think I've seen an archway like this before.](http://i0.wp.com/www.trekkingwithbecky.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/IMG_1088.jpg?resize=700%2C523)
I don’t think I’ve seen an archway like this before.
![I can just imagine artists painting.](http://i0.wp.com/www.trekkingwithbecky.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/IMG_1059-001.jpg?resize=700%2C937)
I can just imagine artists painting.
![I wonder how many hours this took.](http://i0.wp.com/www.trekkingwithbecky.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/IMG_1055-001.jpg?resize=534%2C715)
I wonder how many hours this took.
Don’t forget to look up at the ceilings! They’re just magnificent! Here are my top three. ↓
![My favourite ceiling.](http://i2.wp.com/www.trekkingwithbecky.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/IMG_0998-001.jpg?resize=700%2C690)
My favourite ceiling.
![The prettiest dome ceiling.](http://i2.wp.com/www.trekkingwithbecky.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/IMG_1110-001.jpg?resize=700%2C650)
The most amazing dome ceiling.
![This one's completely different and obviously slightly asymmetrical, but I still really like it.](http://i0.wp.com/www.trekkingwithbecky.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/IMG_1076-002.jpg?resize=700%2C1029)
This one’s completely different and so simple, but I still really like it.
My pictures don’t do St. Basil’s justice, but don’t miss it if you make it to Red Square. Admission was 350 roubles. Make sure that you have a lot of time. There’s a lot to see, and inside is a bit of a maze because it isn’t structured like other cathedrals.
Cathedrals are always impressive, but this one is special. What do you think? What makes a cathedral stand out to you?
